Thematic Workshops on Armed Actors and Humanitarian Space
Who should respond to humanitarian needs?

July 15-16, 2009

New York, NY

This workshop challenges the concept that humanitarian space is or should remain the exclusive domain of civilian humanitarian actors. The theme examines a changing 21st century humanitarian landscape and the delivery of aid by military and other actors. Distinct perspectives will be debated between humanitarians, military forces, international organizations and the commercial sector. Is it time for more proactive engagement on part of the 'traditional' humanitarians?"
